Night Shift

“Nachtschicht” (Night Shift), the new edition by Ben Weide, is dedicated to those special hours between late evening and early morning. Streets empty out, light transforms the city, and familiar places take on a new atmosphere.

The edition begins with a single night, experienced from an unusual perspective. The inspiration came from a night patrol with the Berlin police, which took Ben Weide through the entire night and across the whole city. It began with the evening briefing and continued through the radio traffic and the changing situations of the patrol until the first light of morning. The result was a different view of Berlin: of empty streets, illuminated intersections, asphalt and exposed concrete. Of intense colours in the midst of darkness. And of a city that never quite comes to a standstill.

These impressions are reflected in the colours of the edition. Nachtwache stands for deep black, Blaulicht and Overall for different shades of nocturnal blue. Leuchtspur adds an intense orange accent, while U7 picks up the distinctive yellow of the Berlin underground. Mitternachtsgleis, Kiez, Sichtbeton, Pflaster and Hinterhof speak of the city’s muted tones. Mitternachtskupfer completes the palette with a shimmering petrol between green and blue.

The focus is on clean silhouettes, precise fits and exceptional natural materials. Fine loden qualities, cashmere and carefully balanced wool blends define the edition. What makes it special is not expressed loudly. It lies in the feel of the fabric, the cut and the detail.

Particular importance is placed on origin. All materials in the edition are made in Germany, including the outer fabrics, the linings and all other textile components. For Ben Weide, quality does not begin with the finished garment. It begins with the selection and making of its materials.

“Nachtschicht” stands for a luxury that needs no staging. For clothing that endures rather than following a moment. Designed in Berlin. Made from materials with origin, substance and character.
